Sugar Bowl: 3 players to watch between Ohio State and Clemson
1. Chris Olave
Trey Sermon on the ground is a key piece for Ohio State on offense, but the most important player for the Buckeyes on offense minus Justin Fields of course is Chris Olave.
Olave has everything you want in a wide receiver. He has good size, great footwork, and has great speed. On the year he has 36 receptions for 528 yards, and five touchdowns. An impressive stat for Olave is that he has had four games of at least 100 receiving yards this season.
You may look at those stats and they do not jump off the page, but you also have to factor in that Olave has only played in 5 games this year. The talented wide receiver had to miss the Big Ten Championship game after testing positive for COVID-19.
Olave is back practicing for the Buckeyes which is good news for Ohio State. The junior wideout can beat you in so many ways: middle, screens, and deep down the field.
Last year, Olave had three receptions for 50 yards, and a touchdown against Clemson and is now bigger, stronger and faster. Defensive coordinator Brent Venables better know where No. 2 in white is on the field at all times.
It wouldn’t be shocking at all for Olave to add another 100 yard receiving game to his total for the season after this playoff game.
Two talented teams facing off to go to the National Championship game. What more could you ask for? Hopefully, 2021 starts off great and this game lives up to the hype.
