2021 NFL Mock Draft: First-round projections after national championship
Could Washington trade up to address arguably its biggest need this offseason? The Washington Football Team desperately needs a quarterback after cutting Dwayne Haskins during the season which capped off a disappointing run for him in D.C.
Alex Smith was an awesome comeback story, but he wasn’t the most effective passer in the league, throwing six touchdowns and eight interceptions with 1,582 yards in eight games.
While many fans would love for the team to trade up to get someone like Justin Fields, Trey Lance or Zach Wilson, they’re currently stuck with the No. 19 overall pick — that’s what they get for messing around and making the playoffs.
At this position, I could see Washington aiming for a receiver or a defensive back, but offensive tackle is also a major need and that’s where rebuilding teams need to start.
And why not target the second-best pure tackle in the draft in Christian Darrisaw of Virginia Tech? He could start early on and he projects as a left tackle at the next level.
Whoever ends up being the next quarterback in Washington won’t have to worry about their blindside with Darrisaw in town.
