Nebraska will FINALLY beat Iowa

Since Nebraska football has moved to the Big Ten, the Iowa Hawkeyes have become their true rival and it’s fitting that the Huskers haven’t beaten Iowa since Bo Pelini was fired following a nine-win season and win over the Hawkeyes.

Things got ugly under Mike Riley and Frost is 0-3 against Iowa, but Nebraska has dropped those three games by a combined 12 points. Iowa won the games in 2018 and 2019 on last-second field goals and last year, Martinez fumbled as Nebraska was driving for a game-winning score.

It’s been a heartbreaking series and it’s been the perfect symbol for Frost’s tenure. There are moments of hope and progress, only for the same crushing defeat at the end.

Next year, the game is in Lincoln and with a veteran quarterback, as well as a number of veterans on defense, this will be the year to end the streak and that’s important, because without beating Iowa, a bowl game might be in jeopardy.

And even though Frost’s deal goes through 2026, if he falls to 0-4 against Iowa and fails to get Nebraska to a bowl game, it will be hard to justify keeping him.
