2. The running back room is ready for 2021

The Aggies may be getting a new quarterback in 2021, but what they aren’t replacing is the star trio of running backs that they showed off in 2020. These three guys, who we will break down one by one in a minute, could make a run at being the best running back room in the conference — pun intended.

We start with soon-to-be junior Isaiah Spiller. He played through a fractured toe in the Orange Bowl against UNC and still managed 50 yards and two touchdowns, pushing him over the 1,000-yard mark on the season. His touchdown run against Florida really burst him onto the SEC scene and he earned a first-team all-SEC honor along with Alabama running back Najee Harris.

Spiller isn’t the only junior ready to show off his moves. Ainias Smith, who moved from wideout to running back in the 2019 bowl game excelled at his new position in 2020. He finished with 10 touchdowns on the year, including four rushing and six receiving. He is the more versatile of the running backs that the Aggies have, functioning as a receiver and a running back.

On top of those two, we add soon-to-be sophomore Devon Achane who really burst onto the scene in the Orange Bowl, earning MVP honors for his two-touchdown, 140-yard performance. Look for him to be ready to continue his speedy performances into the 2021 season.
