1. Mac Jones (quarterback) – Alabama

The quarterback class of the 2021 NFL Draft is loaded with high-caliber that is worthy of being selected in the first round. In the middle of the 2020 College Football season, there were six players at the quarterback position who had a first-round draft grade. This year will be plenty of teams looking to acquire one of these top quarterbacks with proper evaluation.

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones will have an advantage on the other first-round caliber quarterbacks since he will be one of the biggest players to watch for in the 2021 Senior Bowl. With the limited 2021 NFL Scouting Combine, Jones will have a better offseason performance analysis than the other quarterbacks.

Before the 2020 season, Jones’ starting quarterback status for Alabama was questioned. After leading Alabama to their 18th National Championship title and their third in six seasons, there were no questions of Jones’ talents and abilities. The Davey O’Brien Award Winner and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner threw for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, only four interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 203.1 on 311 completions (out of 402 passing attempts).

Jones’ ability to consistently throw the ball deep, ability to break down defensive coverages and schemes, and solid arm mechanics have made him a first-round caliber quarterback for the upcoming NFL Draft. Jones has been ranked by the fifth-best quarterback and the 25th overall prospect in the 2021 NFL by CBS Sports. Some mock draft have Jones being selected by the Washington Football Team, the Chicago Bears, and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the latter half of the first round.

He will have a solid opportunity to present his consistency and productivity in the 2021 Senior Bowl week in front of NFL scouts and coaches. If picked up by an NFL playoff-contending team, Jones will be set up for a bright future in the league for several years.
