Miami Football: Way too early 2021 game by game predictions
Miami’s ACC opener will come five days after their previous game vs Central Connecticut State and it will be vs the Virginia Cavaliers. Miami has a two-game winning streak over Virginia, but head coach Bronco Mendenhall always has this team ready to play. Virginia made the ACC Championship two years ago and could be a darkhorse to get back there in 2021.
Virginia is going to miss some impact defenders, but they do return quarterback Brennan Armstrong and he is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the ACC. This game will be tricky on a Thursday night and if it was in Charlottesville, I might pick the Cavaliers to pull the upset. The game is in Miami however and I think that will propel the Hurricanes to a closer than expected victory.
Final Score: Miami 31, Virginia 24 (4-1, 1-0 ACC)
This is the biggest game on Miami’s schedule and one that they must win if they hope to make it to the ACC Championship. This will be a game where Miami will be looking for revenge, as North Carolina embarrassed Miami on their own field last season. The Miami defense will be looking to have a bounce back game against Sam Howell, who might be the top quarterback in the country heading into 2021.
With the game being in Chapel Hill, I think that will make this game even more difficult for Miami to win. North Carolina has a dynamic offense led by Howell I think that Miami has too many question marks at linebacker and at pass rusher to stop the Tar Heels offense. It won’t be a blowout like last season, but North Carolina will win this one and in turn, win the Coastal division.
Final Score: Miami 34, North Carolina 42 (4-2, 1-1 ACC)
