Clemson Football: Way too early game predictions for 2021 season

The most anticipated game of the opening weekend and the best non-conference game of the year will take place in Charlotte between Clemson and Georgia. These two teams have not met since Georgia won in Athens in 2014. Both teams should be ranked in the top five to start the year and will hope a win here can move them to the front of the college football playoff conversation.

Georgia is returning a lot of firepower on offense and are hoping that J.T Daniels is the answer at quarterback and able to take the Bulldogs to the playoff. Georgia has a very athletic and skilled receiving corps that will test the Clemson secondary, much like Ohio State did.

I think Clemson has two significant edges in this game. Their entire defensive line is returning and I am expecting a monster leap from both Bryan Breese and Myles Murphy. Both guys have All-American potential and Georgia is replacing some talent up front.

The biggest question mark will be Georgia’s secondary. The Bulldogs are missing four guys that were starters or major contributors and that could be a problem week one vs a talented QB in D.J Uiagalelei who can take advantage. I expect a thriller in this game and I am giving the edge to Clemson due to concerns with Georgia’s secondary and O-line.

Final Score: Clemson 38, Georgia 35 (1-0)

After a huge victory over Georgia in week one, I think Clemson will be glad to be playing South Carolina State. Playing the week after a huge win could be cause for a trap game, but not against these guys. Clemson should just hope to come out of this game completely healthy and able to get some of their younger guys some reps.
