Florida Football: 3 signees who’ll have instant impacts in 2021
If there’s one player who I believe will break out in his first season with Florida and really become a star on that defensive side of the ball, it’s Diwun Black.
Right now, Black is staring early playing time directly in the face, especially since the Gators are losing Brad Stewart Jr. and they have a void at the Star position. Black fits that position perfectly as it’s meant to be for a linebacker/safety hybrid type and that’s exactly what he is. He played both at the high school level and has the potential to play strong safety in college.
Star is the position for him and he could become a star there.
Black was once committed to Mississippi State — Dan Mullen’s old program — as a four-star recruit and then he went the JUCO route. He was a blue-chip prospect out of high school and has only gotten better at the JUCO level as the No. 1 ranked prospect out of Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.
Florida needs to fill that position and Black seems like the ideal fit and it wouldn’t shock me if he started from day one.
