Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are coming off of back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins. The only blemish on their schedule last season was a loss against the previously mentioned Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Among the teams mentioned so far, Louisiana has the best combination of potential and strength of schedule. After week one, they won’t play many noteworthy teams. They do come up against a Liberty team that will be pushing to win the very same conference, but they have a better shot at pushing for the playoff.

The nice thing about the Ragin Cajuns is that we’ll know after the first week of football whether or not they have a shot. In fact, the first game of the year against the Texas Longhorns will tell us a lot about this team. If they pull off the upset, they’ll easily be seen as the best group of 5 team. All they would have to do beyond that point is win out and they’d have as good of a claim as any of the teams on this list except for my number one.

This team will be somewhat of a mystery though, losing their top two tailbacks while retaining their head coach. They’ll also keep their quarterback and lose some key pieces on defense. If the stars align, this team has the second-best shot out of any G5 team to make the playoff.
