Penn State Football: 3 Players with most to prove this offseason
2. Jahan Dotson – Wide Receiver
On the offensive side of the ball for the Nittany Lions, they were able to find some ground to having a productive offense this past season.
They were still not as explosive as Nittany Lions fans wanted them to be as their offense was ranked 54th in points per game (29.8), 43rd in total yards per game (411.3), 45th in passing yards per game (237.1), and 55th in rushing yards per game (174.3).
There is potential for a more explosive offense going into the 2021 season especially with several talented players returning. One of those talented players is senior wide receiver Jahan Dotson, who will be going into his third year as a starter.
This past season, Dotson caught 52 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. Despite some solid performances this past season, he was named third-team All-Big Ten Conference by the media and the coaches. He leads the entire Big Ten in total receiving yards and touchdowns as well as third in average yards per game and receptions.
Dotson continues the impressive run of talented receivers from Penn State that includes DaeSean Hamilton, Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin, and tight end Mike Gesicki. He has the potential to have a more explosive season for Penn State in the 2021 season.
This lack of acknowledgment from the Big Ten Conference creates a big chip on Dotson’s shoulder. Look for him to push the Nittany Lions to have a potential high-caliber offense among all the teams in the Big Ten this 2021 season.
