1. Pick Analysis. Sept. 4. Ann Arbor (Mich.). Western Michigan Broncos. Scouting Report. player. 405

Michigan will open the 2021 season with a game against in state foe Western Michigan, who is one of the best and most consistent teams in the MAC. This will be a great opportunity for the Wolverines to start the season off on the right foot and get a win under their belt and build momentum for what will be a tough slate of games ahead. Western Michigan is traditionally built to score points, so this could be a good test for the revamped Michigan defense.

I think that Michigan’s talent is too much and the Wolverines get an easy win to start the year off on the right foot.

Final Score: Michigan 35, Western Michigan 14 (1-0)

player. 818. Pick Analysis. Sept. 11. Washington Huskies. 2. Scouting Report. Ann Arbor (Mich.)

This will be the first big test for Michigan in 2021. This was supposed to be a home and home series between the two schools and played in Washington to start the season last year, but COVID-19 had to go and mess those plans up.

This should be a game of two evenly-matched teams who are looking to improve in 2021. Washington head coach Jimmy Lake had a decent first season in Seattle, but it remains to be seen if he can continue the program that Chris Petersen built. Washington is bringing in a talented recruiting class that they hope can jumpstart their offense a bit.

I think that Washington will have the superior defense, but I have a lot of questions about their offense particularly at quarterback. I think that Michigan will win this game with it being in Ann Arbor, but I do not have a ton of confidence in this pick because I think this is a coin flip between the teams.

Final Score: Michigan 27, Washington 24 (2-0)
