3. Is this Oklahoma’s deepest receiver room ever?

There is no doubt the Sooners have had their fair share of talented wide receivers. From Sterling Shephard to Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Cendarious “CeeDee” Lamb, the Sooners have had great receivers through the years.

These receivers could be, however, the most talented collection of wide outs the Sooners have ever had. The room is so deep that Charleston Rambo is transferring to Miami. Two freshmen, Theo Howard and Trevon West, are also in the portal.

Theo Wease, a five-star prospect who tied for the team lead in receptions last season, leads this receiving corps. On the other side of Wease is Marvin Mims, who led the Sooners in passing yards and touchdowns.

The incoming crop of receivers, however, is why three incumbent receivers went to the portal:

  • Marlo Williams: Williams is the fourth-ranked wide receiver by 247Sports. Don’t be fooled by the size, the Florida high school standout is physical and fast.
  • Jalil Farooq: Farooq has ideal size (6-foot-1 and 200 pounds) right out of high school. He is as agile as a receiver that is 20 pounds lighter. Not only can Farooq win his share of 50/50 balls, but he can also run past defenders.
  • Billy Bowman: Bowman took snaps all over the field in high school as the second-rated athlete by 247Sports. However, Bowman is too athletic and too dynamic with the ball in his hands to be a cornerback. He grades out as either a slot receiver or all-purpose running back.

Throw speedster Cody Jackson in the mix, and this receiver room goes seven-deep, not including solid H-back Austin Stogner. Also, five-star receiver Jadon Hazelwood returns from injury as well. Every defensive coordinator in the Big 12 is already having nightmares about how to stop these receivers.
