2. Battle at wide receiver

Much like the linebacker position on defense, the wide receiver position took a lot of heat for their poor play. The position was often criticized for holding the offense back and making them less consistent.

A bright spot for the group last season was the emergence of Mike Harley Jr. as the No. 1 receiver, especially towards the end of the season. Two guys that really need to step up this season are seniors Dee Wiggins and Mark Pope. Both guys were plagued with drops and if they can’ step up this year, they may risk getting passed up on the depth chart.

A guy that should be an instant impact player is Oklahoma transfer Charleston Rambo. He needed a fresh start and should be a starter from day one.

There are several young guys that Miami needs to step up and challenge for playing time. Guys like Jeremiah Payton, Keshawn Smith, and Michael Redding need to be able to provide depth and challenge the upperclassmen.

This is the most important position for Miami on offense this spring.
