Notre Dame Football: Pre-spring game-by-game predictions for 2021
The aforementioned tough stretch that the Irish will be seeing after the Virginia Tech game starts with a home battle against a USC team with one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
Kedon Slovis and the Trojans are trying to get back into the win column against the Irish for the first time in a few years and this is a prime opportunity. I think Jack Coan struggles in this one as the Trojans will try to turn this into a shootout to fit their style while the Irish defense won’t get enough stops. Too much pressure on Coan to be perfect will crush him in this one.
Final Score: USC 34, Notre Dame 27 (5-2)
North Carolina returns one of the best rosters in the country led by Sam Howell and although they’re losing some talented offensive weapons, they should have one of the best offenses in college football. Howell is going to be a Heisman candidate and the Tar Heels have new life under Mack Brown.
This is a rematch of last year’s thriller between these teams and the Tar Heels will get some revenge, handing the Irish their third straight loss and crushing their playoff hopes.
Final Score: North Carolina 38, Notre Dame 35 (5-3)
