Iowa State Football: Pre-spring game-by-game predictions for Cyclones
Games 3-4
Sept. 18 at UNLV
UNLV has one of the worst football programs in the FBS and it’s not a stretch to say that. Last season, the Rebels were winless (0-6) and I wouldn’t expect anything to dramatically change before next season.
Iowa State has too much talent, too much poise, and is too well-coached to do anything but destroy the Rebels, even though the game is on the road.
Final Score: Iowa State 49, UNLV 14
Sept. 25 at Baylor
Baylor struggled to win games last season, going just 2-7. However, the Bears did put a scare into the Cyclones, going ahead 24-10 before Iowa State rallied to win the game.
The Bears do have some talent back, especially at the wide receiver position with R.J. Sneed and Trestan Ebner. Both those guys had big games against ISU last season. Yet, the Bears will have a new starting QB after Charlie Brewer decided to go to Utah as a graduate transfer.
With it being the first conference game of the year, this will be a challenge for the Cyclones, but the defense will be the difference between the two teams in an ISU win.
Final score: Iowa State 35, Baylor 24
