College football: Ranking every Heisman Trophy winner

12. Ranking every Heisman Trophy Winner: Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M Aggies football
In the history of college football, there have been very few personalities like the one who played quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies back in the early 2010s. That player, Johnny Manziel, captivated America with his incredible highlight-reel plays, and while his star only shined for two years, what he was able to accomplish is going to be hard to replicate in that same time span.
Call him “Money Manziel,” or “Johnny Football,” the fact is, love him or hate him, Manziel is one of the best quarterbacks the SEC has ever seen. Across a two-year span, he threw for nearly 10,000 yards and had over 90 touchdowns, beating some of the best players in college football in the toughest conference in the game.
Manziel redshirted his first season with Aggies and then took over as a starter as a redshirt freshman, becoming the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy. He shattered defenses all season long, racking up over 4,600 yards of total offense, throwing for over 3,400 yards and 24 touchdowns, and then rushing for nearly 1,200 yards and 19 scores. His signature moment was on the road against No. 1 Alabama, where he ripped off so many memorable plays en-route to a 29-23 Texas A&M victory.
Since his two-year run at Texas A&M, it has pretty much been all downhill for Manziel, as he was the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 draft, and after telling ownership they were going to “wreck this league,” he pretty much torpedoed his career. Still, he is one of the more exciting Heisman winners in history and deserves his spot at No. 12.
