S Daxton Hill, junior

When five-star defensive back Daxton Hill committed to Michigan football back in the 2019 class, it felt like a game-changer for the Wolverines. Yet, it hasn’t really worked out that way.

Hill has been good. There’s no doubt about that. He’s intercepted two passes, broke up seven, and recovered three fumbles. He was also the best cover guy last year as he alternated between cornerback and safety. But his impact hasn’t been what was expected.

Is that all his fault? No. He could have been utilized better and in my opinion, playing him in the slot would be ideal. He can cover, support the run, blitz, and just make plays. That’s what Michigan football needs — a playmaker in the secondary and Hill can be that guy.

During spring ball, multiple observers said he looked incredible, and hopefully that’s true. If you want to have a good defense, you need elite defenders and Hill can be that. He can be an All-American and if he plays up to his potential this season, he will be a first-round pick.
