Daunting schedule is on deck for the Yellow Jackets in 2021

Many teams have a really tough schedule, but not many can claim they are going to be playing five teams that have hopes to make the playoff. Georgia Tech is slated to play Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Miami this season and even if you take out those games, it is a tough schedule.

  • Game 1: Northern Illinois (W)- The Huskies are rebuilding and Tech should win big here.
  • Game 2: Kennesaw State (W)- The Owls have a really good FCS program, but this is too big of a step up in competition for them.
  • Game 3: At Clemson (L)- It won’t be as bad as last year’s 73-7 beatdown, but it won’t be close either.
  • Game 4: North Carolina (L)- These teams did not play last season, but I think the Tar Heels win big here.
  • Game 5: Pittsburgh (W)- This is a true toss-up game, but I think the home-field advantage tilts it towards the Yellow Jackets for me.
  • Game 6: At Duke (W)- The Blue Devils might be the worst team in the ACC and I think Georgia Tech is way more talented.
  • Game 7: At Virginia (L)- I think Virginia is being undervalued by most this year and Charlottesville is a tough place to play.
  • Game 8: Virginia Tech (L)- I am down on the Hokies this year, but I think they get the win on the road.
  • Game 9: At Miami (L)- Collins got Tech to upset the Canes in 2019, but that is not happening again.
  • Game 10: Boston College (W)- Another team that is being overrated in the ACC this year is Boston College and I think Tech pulls a mild upset here.
  • Game 11: At Notre Dame (L)- The Yellow Jackets need one more win to get to bowl eligibility, but it won’t come vs the Irish.
  • Game 12: Georgia (L)- Tech has a lot of catching up to do if they want to be able to eventually beat their in-state rivals.

Final Record: 5-7, 3-5 ACC

All things considered, I think a 5-7 record considering the schedule would be nothing to sneeze at. The Jackets have virtually unwinnable games against Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, and North Carolina, so that makes the other games that much more important.
