Liberty Football: Can Flames replicate success from 2020?
Opportunity is there for an undefeated season for Liberty
As an independent, it can be tough to find a schedule that will be worthy of playoff contention or getting a shot at a New Years Six game and that is the case that lies in front of Liberty. There are not many shots at power five opponents and even the ones they play, like Syracuse, are not going to do much to raise their national profile. Still, this is a chance at a huge season for the Flames.
- Game 1: Campbell (W)- The numbers Malik Willis will put up in this game are truly going to be ridiculous.
- Game 2: At Troy (W)- Troy can pull the upset over Liberty here, but I think Willis will power Liberty to a win on the road.
- Game 3: Old Dominion (W)- ODU is one of the weaker teams in the C-USA and I think it should be an easy win for the Flames at home.
- Game 4: At Syracuse (W)- Liberty won by 17 in Syracuse last season and I am expecting more of the same this season.
- Game 5: At UAB (W)- This is going to be one of the toughest games of the season for Liberty and UAB is going to have a good defense, but I think Liberty wins a close one.
- Game 6: Middle Tennessee (W)- MTSU is going to have a good offense, but they won’t be able to match Liberty’s firepower.
- Game 7: At ULM (W)- ULM is going through rebuilding and this should be another game where Malik Willis puts up ridiculous points.
- Game 8: At North Texas (W)- I like Liberty to go on the road and take down the Mean Green at their place.
- Game 9: UMass (W)- Liberty might score 100 in this game vs one of the worst teams in the country.
- Game 10: At Ole Miss (L)- This is going to be one of the most entertaining games of the year and the over/under might be around 100, but I think Liberty meets their match in Matt Corral and Ole Miss.
- Game 11: Louisiana (L)- The Flames have their two toughest games of the season back to back and I think Louisiana is going to be a fantastic team in 2021.
- Game 12: Army (W)- Army is never an easy win because of their style of play, but I think Liberty will get it done
Final Record: 10-2
This is one of the easier schedules that you are going to find and I think you should expect 10 wins at a minimum. The Ole Miss game is going to be Liberty’s super bowl and they will have a chance to win it. The most important games come at the end and that is when Liberty might be playing their best.
