Schedule sets up perfectly for a run for Utah in 2021

It is a shame that we did not get a holy war showdown between BYU and Utah last season, but the rivalry is back after a one-year hiatus. Utah does face Oregon in cross-division play, but they come to Salt Lake and they avoid Washington. While there is a road trip to USC, Utah gets UCLA and Arizona State at home. This is a schedule that sets up for a possible division title.

  • Game 1: Weber State (W)- This will be the easiest game of the year for the Utes and they will win big here.
  • Game 2: At BYU (W)- It is a shame we did not get this game last season, as I think it would have been a classic. I think Utah gets the best of the Cougars this season.
  • Game 3: At San Diego State (W)- The Aztecs are solid, but they won’t be able to score on Utah’s defense.
  • Game 4: Washington State (W)- I think the Cougars are dangerous with their offense, but they have no shot in Salt Lake City.
  • Game 5: At USC (L)- This is the game that could decide the South Division and I think the Trojans win the game at home because of their QB.
  • Game 6: Arizona State (W)- This is a tough pair of games to follow each other, but I think Utah will get the Sun Devils in a fun game.
  • Game 7: At Oregon State (W)- Oregon State is an improving program, but beating Utah, even at home, is a tall order.
  • Game 8: UCLA (W)- UCLA is one of the most experienced teams in the country and I think they could be a threat to win the division, but the home-field advantage gives the game to Utah.
  • Game 9: At Stanford (W)- The Cardinal don’t seem to have a strong team this year and I think this program could be headed in the wrong direction.
  • Game 10: At Arizona (W)- The Wildcats might be the worst team in the conference and Utah wins this game big.
  • Game 11: Oregon (L)- Utah is still sour over its defeat against the Ducks in the 2019 PAC-12 championship game and I think Utah can win this game, but I think the Ducks have the more talented team.
  • Game 12: Colorado (W)- Utah closes out the season with a win over the surprise team from a year ago in the PAC-12.

Final Record: 10-2, 7-2 PAC-12

This would be a great season for the Utes. They get their toughest games at home, minus a road game vs USC, and they could be in for a special season if the offense can find some playmakers.
