Oregon adds elite talent on both sides of the ball

Oregon football coach Mario Cristobal doesn’t get enough credit as one of the best coaches in the business when it comes to college football recruiting.

The Ducks had another strong week on the trail and added their fourth top-200 commitment in the past month.

Oregon landed five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, who is ranked 17th overall in the 2022 class, and earlier this week,  the Ducks hauled in Tetairoa McMillan, a top-100 wideout.

McMillian is 6-foot-3, 185 pounds out of Anaheim, California, and is ranked 57th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as 27th overall in the 247 sports rankings. That puts him on the cusp of being a five-star recruit and Brandon Huffman of 247 sports projects him as a future first-round pick.

The Ducks weren’t finished though and on Saturday, Oregon football wrapped up the commitment of another elite 2022 recruit — Jalil Tucker.

Tucker, a four-star defensive back out of San Diego, is 6-foot, 180 pounds, and is lightning-quick, running a 10.78 in the 100-meter dash as a freshman. He’s ranked 144th overall in the composite rankings but again is much higher in the 247 rankings (61st overall).

The additions moved Oregon football up to fifth overall according to the team rankings in 2022 and if the Ducks keep landing some of the best players in California, they will keep contending for PAC-12 championships.
