The Aggie Offense: New QB, New Line, Same Weapons

Texas A&M football lost four starting seniors on the offensive line and a starting quarterback in Kellen Mond who seemed as if he had been there forever.

Now, we will see either Zach Calzada or Haynes King at the quarterback position (though from what I have seen, it seems that everyone believes King to be the favorite). We will see a new offensive line lead by coach Josh Henson and junior Kenyon Green who was likely the scout’s favorite member of the 2020 line.

While those faces will be new, the Aggies have some returning faces that many should be excited to see on the field again.

First off, running backs Isaiah Spiller, Devon Achane, and Ainias Smith (who also plays wide receiver) will be back and ready to bring havoc to opposing defenses. Throw in guys like Chase Lane, Caleb Chapman — back from an ACL tear — Jalen Preston, Demond Demas, Hezekiah Jones, Jalen Wydermeyer, Baylor Cupp and so many more at wide receiver and tight end- the Aggie quarterback will have plenty of options to give the ball to throughout the season.

Look for two running backs that could end up with 1,000-yard seasons and a lot of spreading the ball around when it comes to those receivers and tight ends. You may even end up with a handful of All Americans on this offense by the season’s end.
