ACC Football Power Rankings: Can anyone topple Clemson?
By Dante Pryor
12. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Key returning players: Jeff Sims, Jordan Mason, Adonacias Sanders, Tre Swilling, Djimon Brooks
Key losses: Ahmarean Brown, Jalen Camp
Season Outlook: What does progress look like for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this season. After consecutive three-win seasons, this is (ironically) year three of the Geoff Collins experience. Collins and his staff have been tasked with turning over a roster built to accommodate a traditional triple-option offense.
Flipping Jeff Sims from Florida State was huge. Stabilizing the quarterback position this early in the rebuild is a huge plus. Sims, who led the Jackets in both rushing and receiving, flashed at times and looked like a freshman at others will have to leap in performance.
The defense took a step back from year one to year two under Collins. Collins and the staff were busy in the portal to address their defensive woes, adding Alabama transfer linebacker Kevin Harris and Texas transfer defensive back Kenyatta Watson.
Those transfers, along with Old Dominion transfer defensive end Keion White and South Carolina transfer defensive end Makius Scott are awaiting word on their eligibility status.
Keep an eye on four-star wide receiver James BlackStrain. The Florida native can play at the Power Five level and is a polished route runner as a freshman in college.
