12. Syracuse Orange, 1-0: Wins will be difficult to come by for Dino Babers and the Syracuse Orange, so winning their season opener against the Ohio Bobcats was huge. It was surprising that Tommy DeVito got the start over Garrett Schrader, considering the offensive line.

This weekend let other ACC football teams know how the Orange want to win games this season. The defense was solid against a team reeling after the sudden retirement of their head coach. Get well soon, Coach Solich; you are a class act.

Running back Sean Tucker had a great game, and the Orange will give him the ball a lot this season.

It is not easy to know what this means for the rest of the season, but a win is something you can build on if you are the ‘Cuse.

11. Louisville Cardinals, 0-1: The Cardinals did not look good against the Mississippi Rebels. Louisville was shut out in the first half and was put away for good early in the fourth quarter. This was all without Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin.

Louisville appeared inferior to Mississippi athletically, and the Rebels defense played well, which was a surprise. The Cardinals’ offense missed Chitarius Atwell, Javian Hawkins, and Dez Fitzpatrick badly in this game. That could hurt them the rest of the season.
