2. Treylon Burks does not look like a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft

Prior to the start of the season, junior wide receiver Treylon Burks appeared in countless NFL mock drafts, almost always showing up somewhere in the first round. In a recent mock draft from Bleacher Report, Burks is projected to be the second wideout taken in next year’s draft, expecting him to go 20th overall.

While drafting a player to the NFL is part science, part art, and part luck, you do have to show some tangible production. From what I’ve seen so far, Burks has a long way to go to be considered a team’s top draft choice in the next NFL draft.

In the first game of the season against Rice, Burks pulled in five receptions for 42 yards. Burks was nonplussed against Texas. He pulled in 5 receptions on 7 attempts, gaining just 37 yards.

Burks has yet to score a touchdown this season, despite exploding for 7 touchdown receptions in his sophomore season.

Burks needs to be more aggressive and assert himself as a leader of the Arkansas offense. Once Arkansas faces the likes of Texas A&M, Auburn, and Alabama, they will need the junior wideout to be at the top of his game.
