Arkansas Razorbacks: 3 hot takes from Razorbacks win over Texas
1. This Arkansas football defense can hang with anyone in the SEC
Arkansas Defensive Coordinator Barry Odom continues to show why he is one of the best coordinators in all of college football. The defensive guru can plan for just about any team as evident by his unit’s performance in an otherwise underwhelming season of Arkansas football.
Last season, Odom is widely credited with cracking the famed “air raid” offense crafted by Mike Leach at Washington State. The Hogs cracked the code in just the second game of the season, giving Leach his own “Welcome to the SEC” moment.
Odom’s inspired defense followed up a victory at Mississippi State last year with narrow defeats to Auburn by two, LSU by three, and Missouri by two.
Arkansas football held Texas to 14 points for most of the game Saturday, allowing one additional touchdown late in the game during garbage time.
The Hogs will get one more dress rehearsal against Georgia Southern before embarking upon the most difficult string of games in the country.
This is what the Arkansas football schedule looks like beginning in Week 4:
Sept. 25: Arkansas vs #5 Texas A&M
Oct. 2: Arkansas @ #2 Georgia
Oct. 9: Arkansas @ #20 Ole Miss
Oct. 16: Arkansas vs #25 Auburn
Count on Odom to have the entire Arkansas football defensive unit ready to face the firepower ahead.
The Arkansas football team will host Georgia Southern on Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at 4 p.m. on SECN.
