Loser: USC (unranked)

It might finally be time for the USC football program to let go of Clay Helton. The latest defeat, a 42-28 loss to Stanford, is just inexcusable. Stanford lost in week one to a very average Kansas State team and did not look good at all.

On Saturday night, however, the Cardinal did whatever they wanted against the USC defense and Stanford shut down USC’s air raid attack.

Helton has been on the hot seat seemingly every since he was hired, but this might be the proverbial nail in the coffin for the head coach. USC just does not have a direction as a program and it is time to hit the restart button for the Trojans.

Loser: Texas (unranked)

Texas is indeed still not back.

The Longhorns came into Arkansas as a touchdown favorite and were riding high off of a big win against Louisiana and were a fast riser up to fifteenth in the rankings. The happiness was short-lived, however, as the Longhorns could not muster any offense and they could not stop the Arkansas rushing attack and it was a long night for head coach Steve Sarkisian.

This loss showed that the Texas program still has a ways to go to get back to the top and contending for the playoff and getting back to the Big 12 championship game.
