The Big 12 is overrated

One thing college football fans learned this week: Texas is not back.

The Longhorns went into Fayetteville as a ranked team against an old SWC Rival — one that will be an SEC rival in a few years — only to get absolutely dominated.

Steve Sarkisian should be able to turn around Texas football and one early loss doesn’t mean much. The expectations for this team were too high anyway. The Longhorns have the talent to be a really good team but they aren’t a playoff contender.

Iowa State isn’t a playoff contender either. The Cyclones lost for the sixth straight time to Iowa on Saturday and four turnovers were a major culprit. Brock Purdy threw three of those.

For as good as Matt Campbell is, maybe he’s reached his ceiling in Ames because he just can’t seem to get past Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes.
