Team of the Week: Jackson State Tigers

The Jackson State Tigers were fortunate enough to be one of the few HBCU FCS teams that did not have to face an FBS team this weekend.

However, they did face a credible FCS opponent in Tennessee State in what was a rivalry game and were fairly dominant in victory.

While we can marvel at their offensive performance as that is something they were not able to do last weekend against Florida A&M, this game came down to their defense.

Jackson State held Tennessee State who came into this game lauded as a very good running team to just 70 yards on 42 attempts while also limiting their star running back Devon Starling to just 35 rushing yards on 11 attempts.

Not to mention that their offense had an extraordinary performance led by their freshman quarterback Shedeur Sanders who showed great poise and maturity in just his second college game.
