5. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-0)

The Demon Deacons have scored 83 points in their first two games of the season, albeit against Old Dominion and Norfolk State. Wake Forest gets a step up in competition when they face Florida State this weekend.

It will be interesting to see which Florida State team the Deacons see. Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson will have his team prepared no matter which Florida State team shows.

4. Virginia Cavaliers (2-0)

The Cavaliers have started their season well on offense. This week, the V-Men take on the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. If Virginia wants to be seen as a legitimate threat in the ACC coastal, a win in this game will go a long way to proving that very thing.

Quarterback Brennan Armstrong has looked sharp through two games, completing over 70 percent of his passes, throwing just one interception. Keyaton Thompson continues his growth as he transitions to wide receiver.

The defense gets a step up in competition with Sam Howell and the Tar Heels’ offense, but Virginia doesn’t beat themselves on that side of the ball.

3. Pitt Panthers (2-0)

The Panthers are off to a great start early in the year with a nice win over Tennessee in Knoxville. It was a very Pitt-like victory for the Panthers. Down early, a big quarter propelled the Panthers to a two-possession lead, and then they held on at the end of the game.

What might hinder the Panthers is their inability to run the football with a lead late in games. This could be an issue simply because they are not explosive enough on offense to hit enough explosive plays to pull away from an opponent.
