Big 12 Football power rankings: TCU pushing Oklahoma for top spot
Record in last 5 games: 3-2
Total offense conference rank: 7
Total defense conference rank: 10
A very disappointing loss for Texas knocks them out of the AP top 25 and the top five from these rankings. It was a downright ugly performance for the Longhorns, losing to future conference-mate Arkansas by a score of 40-21.
Everything went wrong for Texas here as the defense failed to sustain the momentum from last week. The offense was unable to get the engine running, as Texas put up no points in the first half.
The biggest story coming out of this game is Hudson Card being benched for Casey Thompson. Thompson will start this week against Rice, but don’t be shocked if Card finds his way back as a starter.
Next Game: vs. Rice
Record in last 5 games: 4-1

Another team that struggled to put away an FCS opponent, Texas Tech was able to hold off Stephen F. Austin on their last drive of the game.
Despite the close call, the Red Raiders have had a great rushing defense through the first two weeks to complement their usual high powered offense. They are currently ranked 12th in the FBS in rushing yards per game allowed.
Yes, it is very early but it is still a positive sign for a team that has consistently struggled on defense in years past.
Tahj Brooks has been outstanding as well, averaging 9.6 yards per carry through two games. Brooks has already matched his touchdown total from last year and only needs six more yards to match his rushing yards.
With Brooks playing at a high level and the improved defense, the Red Raiders are in a nice position to make noise within the conference.
