Nebraska Football: 3 Reasons Huskers will upset Michigan State
The defense can hold up
One of the biggest reasons that Nebraska football fans should feel confident going into Saturday or any game for that matter this season is the defense.
The Huskers are allowing just 15.8 points per game and held the vaunted Oklahoma offense to 23 points last week. Michigan State has some weapons, but the Spartans aren’t as talented as the Sooners and they are much more run-centric.
Nebraska has allowed 4.4 yards per carry so far this season, which doesn’t sound great going up against Kenneth Walker who is averaging 8.6 yards per attempt.
But the Huskers’ run defense is better than it showed last week and without having to worry as much about the pass, they will be able to contain — not stop Walker.
Nebraska football has done a great job of limiting big plays and forcing teams to move the ball down the field.
The Spartans will do that and will score around 20 points, but Nebraska will be right there and if the Huskers can finally avoid the killer mistakes, it will walk out of East Lansing as a victor.
That’s a big if though. However, the Huskers have to get some breaks at some point and I think they’ll get a key turnover or two, which will be just enough help for Martinez to win.
