ACC Football Power Rankings, Week 5: Clemson spirals out of control
By Dante Pryor
11. North Carolina Tar Heels (2-2, 1-2)
It has been surprising to everyone here at headquarters that not many people have talked about North Carolina losing five of their best players to the NFL this offseason. Programs like North Carolina do not reload.
The offense has been inconsistent, with Josh Downs the only reliable receiver. Sam Howell is second on the team in rushing with 55 carries. The Tar Heels might not want Howell carrying the ball that often.
10. Miami Hurricanes (2-2)
The Hurricanes have yet to begin conference play. There is a lot the ‘Canes need to get together before they play Virginia this weekend. The offensive line has been a disappointment, and the receivers can’t separate from anyone.
Defensively, the Hurricanes have been nothing spectacular. They had nothing for the running game in their 38-17 loss to the Michigan State Spartans. They do get what looks like two winnable games against Virginia and North Carolina, but you never know.
9. Louisville Cardinals (3-1, 1-0)
The Cardinals have looked pretty good since their season-opening loss to Mississippi. Against Florida State, the Cardinals led 31-7 and held on for the 31-23 victory. Head coach Scott Satterfield and his staff are learning to play well without the NFL talent they lost this offseason.
Malik Cunningham has improved this season and not turning the ball over. Wake Forest will test them next week on the road. That game will show where the Cardinals are so far this season.
