3. A Nittany Lion running back eclipses 100 yards

This is bold predictions after all and this may be the boldest of the three. Not sure who it will be, but one of the Nittany Lion running backs will hit the century mark on the ground.

Penn State has struggled most of this season on the ground. Not one Nittany Lion has eclipsed 200 yards yet on the season and the largest output in a single game belongs to Keyvone Lee with 74 yards against Indiana. Noah Cain is the only running back with a rushing touchdown.

It is not the best sign when the third leading rusher on the team is quarterback Sean Clifford. Especially in a year when there have been less designed quarterback run plays compared to previous seasons.

Now the stats would tell us Iowa is not going to allow Penn State to have a 100-yard rusher. The Hawkeyes are only allowing 87 yards per game on the ground, good for 11th in the country. The most they gave up to a single rusher was 69 yards to Breece Hall of Iowa State. This Hawkeye defense is stingy in all facets of their game.

In order for Penn State to win this one, they will need to maintain balance on offense. Lee seemed to figure out some things against Indiana. He was not dancing around as much and settling for the yards he could find, including breaking off for 44 yards, the biggest run of the season for the Nittany Lions.

Lee seems to be the most likely to get to 100 yards against Iowa. He is a bruiser who can just keep pounding and eventually he may break one for a big chunk of yards.
