SEC Power Rankings Week 7: Alabama falls in shocking upset
By Shelbie Warr
Vanderbilt continues to hold up the back end of the conference after being shut out yet again this week, this time by Florida. Things are just not getting better for Vanderbilt who may not have another win in their schedule. They face off against South Carolina this week, who is struggling but not nearly as bad in my opinion. This team is far removed from that five-point loss to Texas A&M that kicked off last season.
Right above the ‘Dores sit the Gamecocks. Is it possible that they move up a spot this week with a nice, convincing win over the Commodores and some help from those around them? Sure, but right now, they sit at No. 13. This team is not good y’all. They are struggling against teams that they should be beating easily — see ECU and Troy. They nearly knocked off the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats, but that tells me more about the Wildcats than it does about the Gamecocks.
The Missouri Tigers sit at No. 12 in the power rankings but face off against Texas A&M this week. With a loss likely in their future as they have zero run defense and the Aggies are a strong running team, they could be looking at falling from this spot which isn’t all that great a spot, to begin with. All I have to say is that the sign they have made in the cover picture of this slide may not be the best choice against the Aggies this week. Learning to defend against the run? Maybe a better idea.
