7. Penn State (5-1)

I felt sorry for Penn State in this one. I definitely think that if Sean Clifford stays healthy, they win this game vs Iowa. They were in control up until that point and Clifford wasn’t even playing that well.

But backup quarterback Ty’Quan Roberson literally could not the ball whatsoever and this Penn State offense just fell apart. They had nearly 10 false starts while Roberson was under center and he finished with an abysmal PFF grade of 42.7. It was just an extremely ugly and unfortunate half of football for the Nittany Lions.

Hopefully Clifford is not out long term so that he can keep this team on track but James Franklin has not released an update on his injury yet.

8. Michigan (6-0)

I actually feel bad for Nebraska because it continues to come so close to upsetting these big teams only to lose by one score. Michigan was the latest team to break Nebraska’s hearts this past weekend. It took a very late fourth-quarter field goal for the Wolverines to win. They owe this one to their kicker who may have been the MVP of this contest. Jake Moody hit all four of his field goal attempts including two in the final three minutes of the game to come back and win.

It’s encouraging to see Michigan winning games like this because these are the types of grinded out games they’ve come accustomed to losing during the Jim Harbaugh era.
