College Football Top 25: Recapping Week 6, previewing Week 7
By Mitch Kaiser
15. Coastal Carolina (6-0)
Another week goes by and another 30-point victory for the Chanticleers. Yet again, they did not move up the AP Top 25 at all.
Isaiah Likely had one of the greatest games I’ve ever seen from a college tight end before. He could not be denied in this one going off for 232 yards and four touchdown receptions. One of them was a 99-yard house call on literally their second offensive snap of the game. Likely finished with a PFF grade of 93.7 and continues to prove why he might be the best tight end in the nation.
Coastal Carolina now enters a bye week which means they may even move down in the rankings sadly.
Next game: Bye
16. Wake Forest (6-0)
Wake Forest vs Syracuse was quietly one of the best games of the weekend. Wake has been in a few games just like this one so far. It was full of offense and extremely back and forth the whole time ending in an overtime victory for the Demon Deacons.
It doesn’t seem like anyone is talking about them much but they’re starting to separate themselves in the ACC and still find themselves undefeated six weeks in.
If you haven’t seen Wake Forest play yet this season, go check them out as they’re pretty entertaining. They have two NFL talented receivers in A.T. Perry and Jaquarii Roberson who are extremely fun to watch. They each went for over 130 receiving yards vs. Syracuse. And quarterback Sam Hartman continues to impress me every week becoming one of PFF’s highest-graded quarterbacks.
Next game: Bye
17. Arkansas (4-2)
The Razorbacks have come back down to earth after one of the hottest starts in the nation. They dropped their second straight game in a 52-51 shootout against Ole Miss. The ending to this game was crazy which included three touchdowns in the final minute and a half.
Arkansas scored as time expired and had a chance to tie with an extra point. Instead, Sam Pittman elected to go for the win and attempted a two-point conversion which unfortunately failed. I personally would have gone for the tie in this situation, but you can live with aggressive mistakes like this.
Even with two straight losses, Arkansas should not hang their heads as the losses were to Georgia and Ole Miss. They’re still having a terrific season and still have a lot to play for.
Next game: vs. Auburn
My prediction: Win 26-24
