I don’t think there are enough unranked teams that deserve to jump into the AP Top 25 this weekend, so despite losing to Auburn in Week 7, the Razorbacks should still cling onto the No. 25 spot. Sam Pittman’s team is probably better than a majority of teams ranked in the 15-25 range.

Does Clemson really deserve a spot in the AP Top 25 for their performance against Syracuse? Probably not, but after beating the Orange by three points on Friday night and avoiding a massive upset, the Tigers should climb back into the rankings, especially since they received the second-most votes outside of the Top 25 a week ago.

To be quite honest, I never thought I’d be projecting Pitt in the AP Top 25 at this point in the season, but after a 5-1 start and a blowout win over Virginia Tech on the road, the Panthers look like legitimate contenders in the ACC. Pat Narduzzi has this team playing well and the ACC is wide open so don’t be shocked if Pitt wins the title finally.

San Jose State was considered one of the top Group of Five teams in the country at the start of the year and on Friday night, we saw why that was. The Spartans put up a fight against San Diego State, but the Aztecs won in overtime. They should remain somewhere in that 20-25 range.

Tanner Mordecai has been a godsend for SMU this season and the Mustangs have exceeded expectations through the first half of the year. Will they be able to make a New Year’s Six bowl? It’s a long shot, but they have a better idea of what needs to be done after a Week 7 bye.
