I’m going to come out and say it: Michigan State’s wins aren’t always pretty.

The Spartans hung on to beat the Hoosiers on the road and exact some revenge for last year’s 24-0 loss, beating the Hoosiers 20-15 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 7-0 on the year and really open some eyes around college football.

No one should have penciled this game in as a win because the Hoosiers started the year ranked and were coming off a breakout season a year ago, but everyone seemed to be overlooked Tom Allen’s team. That almost costed the Spartans a win.

The Spartans’ offense struggled mightily as Kenneth Walker III was held to just 84 rushing yards and Payton Thorne couldn’t get anything going through the air, but the defense stepped up. This is a good sign for Mel Tucker and Co.

If the defense can catch up to the offense on a weekly basis, the Spartans are going to be scary.

Michigan State is 7-0 entering a bye week before the Michigan game. Who would have thought?
