14. Coastal Carolina (6-0)

Week 7 result: BYE

The Chanticleers were on a bye week and surprisingly moved up a spot in the poll. I actually expected them to fall in the rankings since they usually don’t get much credit from the voters. Coastal Carolina now has their toughest gamer yet coming up as they’ll travel to Appalachian State to take on the Mountaineers who are one of the best teams in the Sun Belt.

Next game: vs. Appalachian State
My prediction: Win 38-24

15. Kentucky (6-1)

Week 7 result: Lost to Georgia 13-30

All things considered, Kentucky should feel good about how they faired against the Bulldogs. They did not get completely blown out and they more importantly covered the spread on the last play of the game. The Wildcats scored more points on Georgia’s defense than anyone else has this season so that’s at least something to be proud of. They also did not turn the ball over once which is a huge accomplishment against incredible defense.

Kentucky was just outmatched in this one. It’s not that they even played that bad, it’s just Georgia is that good. They just simply could not move the ball downfield. Kentucky’s longest play of the day was 16 yards and they averaged 1.9 yards per rush attempt. That is not a recipe for success against anybody and especially not the top ranked team in the country.

But there are a still a lot of positives for this Wildcats’ team and looking at their schedule, they have a great chance to win out finishing with only one loss.

Next game: BYE

16. Wake Forest (6-0)

Week 7 result: BYE

The Demon Deacons were on a bye and get to hang onto their undefeated record for another week. That is the only thing on Wake Forest’s mind at this point: staying undefeated. They now have a non-conference game coming up against Army which is actually one of the more intriguing matchups of the weekend. The Demon Deacons are only favored by three on the road and this could be a game where Army smells upset.

Next game: vs. Army
My prediction: Win 34-23
