1. A legacy cemented

Kenny Pickett is proof that Clemson should not run DJ Uiagelelei out of Death Valley East. Pickett came to Pittsburgh and developed into its most prolific passer. Pickett will leave the Pitt football program its all-time leader in yards (single-season and career), along with having the best single-game total in passing yards.

Pickett is also Pitt’s all-time leader in touchdown passes. The redshirt senior was a late bloomer. Pickett’s middle three seasons all look similar. It took time for Pickett to acclimate himself to offensive coordinator Mark Whipple’s complex spread offense.

It also took Pitt some time to get the players around Pickett to compliment his skill set. Pickett is enjoying the finest season of his career in the Steel City and getting lots of buzz as possibly the first quarterback taken in the NFL Draft in 2022.

Pickett won his second ACC Coastal title, and the Panthers have a legit chance to win the ACC this season and make it to the New Year’s Six (likely the Orange Bowl) this postseason. Pickett was outstanding today and has had an exceptional career for the Panthers.

None of that happens if Pitt and the offensive staff are not patient with him, bringing him along gradually.
