Notre Dame football is on track to make the playoffs

If the season ended today Notre Dame is not in the playoffs but the good news is there are still a few weeks left of the 2021 season. Notre Dame is currently ranked as the No. 8 team in the country but should move up two spots with Michigan State and Oregon both going down on Saturday.

There are still other opportunities for teams like Ohio State, Michigan among others to lose ahead of them as well so the Irish can still find their way into the top four. Notre Dame football still has to handle business next weekend on the road at Stanford to finish off the regular season at 11-1.

If Notre Dame is able to take care of business at Stanford one thing that should be mentioned is the one loss that they had to Cincinnati. This is the highest-ranked loss among the one-loss teams which should hold some value toward the committee even though the Irish did not win the matchup against Cincinnati back in October.

Will Notre Dame make the playoffs? Unfortunately, I do not have a crystal ball to look into the future, but as of right now the path is definitely there and in a position to secure a third playoff berth in the last four years.

We will just have to wait and see how the remaining weeks play out in the season.
