Florida Football: 4 head coaches who could return Gators to top of SEC
1. Urban Meyer
How fun would this be for Gator fans? I know the chances of this happening are incredibly slim, but imagine Urban Meyer returning to Gainesville where he had plenty of success over a decade ago to ride off into the sunset with the program he first fell in love with.
If I’m Florida, I’m at least inquiring Meyer and his agent about the possibility of reuniting in Gainesville because, well, his Jaguars career may be short-lived.
In all honesty, Urban hasn’t looked all that happy in Jacksonville since he took over and it may have something to do with the off-field drama but he still hasn’t had much success there and he might feel like college is a better fit. Why not go back to the place that gave you your first big Power Five job? He won titles at Florida and he could go back and do it again.
While Urban isn’t the same youthful coach he was back when he was at Florida over a decade ago, he’s still one of the best in the business. He’s an excellent recruiter and just fits the college game well. He could ride off into the sunset in Florida and retire in the Sunshine State after winning a couple of titles with the Gators again.
This storyline would take over college football.
