Group of Five Football Power Rankings, Week 13: Air Force, Northern Illinois see biggest gains
Louisiana has been taking care of business for 10-straight games this season. Can they make it 11-consecutive wins against UL-Monroe this week? It seems likely since the Warhawks are just 4-7 this season. After that a huge Sun Belt Conference showdown with App State will determine who gets the SBC crown this year.
Houston, a team few thought would be the one to challenge Cincinnati for AAC supremacy appears to be doing just that. They too, have won 10 consecutive games and will likely make it 11 against one of the worst FBS teams in the country, UConn. The Cougars are licking their chops at the opportunity to take on Cincinnati in the AAC Championship game— their first since 2015.
BYU has been quietly having a great second half of the 2021 college football season, defeating Washington State and Virginia. Even though it’s a “down” year for USC, the Cougars would love to get their second ever win over the Trojans, according to Winsipedia. BYU has played some great opponents this year and will likely get an invite to a quality bowl game this year.
UTSA needs one more win to do the unthinkable and finish a perfect 12-0 this season. The Roadrunners have built one of the most exciting programs in all of college football and will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come thanks to Head Coach Jeff Traylor. Let’s see if UTSA can get the job done against North Texas this week.
Cincinnati has one more regular season game to showcase why they belong in the 2021 College Football Playoff and the first Group of Five team to ever be represented in those games. Desmond Ridder and Head Coach Luke Fickell do not appear to be taking their foot off the gas, especially after the massive 48-14 routing of SMU last week. Can the Bearcats finish the job on the road against East Carolina?
