CFP Rankings 2021, Top 10: Week 12 recap, previewing week 13
By Mitch Kaiser
8. Baylor (9-2)
Week 12 result: Defeated Kansas State 20-10
To be honest, I’m pretty shocked Baylor has risen all the way to No. 8. They have two losses and not many impressive wins outside of Oklahoma two weeks ago.
The Bears beat Kansas State this past Saturday, but in no way was it impressive. The game was within a touchdown score for the majority of it. The Bears scored two touchdowns fairly early before their starting quarterback, Gerry Bohanon, left with an injury late in the second quarter.
Their offense couldn’t really do much after that outside of two field goals from Isaiah Hankins who has been a reliable kicker all year long. Credit Baylor’s defense for winning them this game holding the Wildcats to only 10 points. Their defense has come on strong as of late shutting down Oklahoma last week, too.
Baylor is a great team no doubt and Dave Aranda has done a terrific job coaching them this season. I just don’t know if they’re the eighth-best team in the country.
They still have a shot at getting to the Big 12 championship game though if both them and Oklahoma state can win this upcoming week.
Next game: vs. Texas Tech
My prediction: Win 37-21
