College Football 2021: Winners, losers from Week 14 AP Top 25 release
Winner: Kentucky (Up to No. 25)
After dropping out of the top 25 a few weeks ago, the Kentucky Wildcats are now back in the rankings after blowing out Louisville on Saturday night. This was another great season for Mark Stoops and the Wildcats as they finish 9-3 and second place in the SEC East. This was a year that the Wildcats finally found some consistency on offense and they were stingy as always on defense.
The big question for Kentucky now is if Stoops will leave for another job. He has built a solid program in Lexington, but some bigger jobs might come calling and he might not be able to turn them down this time. If Stoops stays, it will be the biggest win of the season for Kentucky’s football program.
Winner: Cincinnati (Up to No. 3)
After getting leapfrogged by Alabama, Cincinnati climbed back up to their third spot this week. The Bearcats completed a 12-0 regular season for the first time since 2009 and could be a win away from being in the playoff. However, Cincinnati needs to win and have Georgia take down Alabama to be sure. If the Crimson Tide were to win and Oklahoma State wins the Big 12 at 12-1, Cincinnati could be in danger of getting left out.
Another big win for the Bearcats has to be the report that head coach Luke Fickell is not going anywhere. Fickell has built a great program and wants to continue to build it as the Bearcats head into the Big 12 in the near future.
