3. Alabama (11-1)

Week 13 result: Defeated Auburn 24-22 in 4OT

This was one of the craziest games of the entire weekend. It was also probably Alabama’s worst game in years. But they still pulled it out in four overtimes vs their rival Auburn.

This Crimson Tide offense was asleep for about 58 minutes of regulation in this one. Then they woke up when they realized they needed to drive down the field and score to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Quarterback Bryce Young led a 97-yard touchdown drive to tie the game with only a minute and a half left. He threw an absolute strike to Ja’Corey Brooks in the corner of the end zone with 24 seconds left to play.

From then o

n, this game was all too predictable. Once it got to overtime, the Crimson Tide did not miss a beat. They successfully threw multiple two-point conversions to John Metchie including the game-winner in the fourth overtime.

Metchie was by far the most reliable offensive weapon for the Tide in this one especially after Jameson Williams was ejected in the 2nd quarter for targeting. Metchie recorded about half of Alabama’s receiving yards and total receptions. This was not the prettiest effort from an Alabama team who’s offensive line was abused all game long. But they got the job done and kept their college football playoff hopes alive which is all Nick Saban cares about right now.
