Let me preface this slide by saying that I thought it was ridiculous that Caleb Williams was included in any midseason Heisman Trophy race this year. He didn’t take over for Spencer Rattler until October so he was already over a month behind in terms of production and he realistically didn’t have a chance to catch up to the other quarterbacks in the running.

Now he has a full season to prove himself under new head coach Brent Venables, assuming he stays in Norman next year.

No matter where Williams plays next season, he’ll be one of the most exciting players in college football. He’s an electric dual-threat who almost single-handedly led the Sooners to some wins this season (Texas, Kansas) and has the ability to take over games.

Williams finished the year with 1,670 passing yards and 18 touchdowns with four picks and a 63 percent completion rate. He added 408 rushing yards and six scores. While he lost Lincoln Riley and he’ll have to learn a new offense next year, he’s going to be at the top of all Heisman odds lists.

Don’t be surprised if Williams is hyped up like crazy heading into the season.
