Way-too-early look at top 5 Heisman Trophy candidates for 2022
Will Bijan Robinson be at Texas next season? There was some speculation that he might hit the portal, but it looks like he’ll remain with the Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian next season and he’ll have a new quarterback in Quinn Ewers who could help form a deadly offensive duo in Austin.
Robinson is one of the best running backs in college football and after he got off to a red-hot start in 2021, there was a belief that he’d be in the Heisman race until the end of the year.
However, when Texas started losing games and Robinson missed the final three weeks of the year, he had no chance. The Longhorns actually missed out on a bowl game after starting the year ranked and 4-1 heading into the Red River Rivalry. They lost in shocking comeback fashion but Robinson had himself a game on the big stage, rushing for 137 yards.
On the year, he rushed for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry and you just get the feeling he’s just scratching the surface. He’s explosive, tough to bring down, powerful, and shifty. He’s the complete running back package.
Heading into the 2022 season, Robinson will be the best running back in college football.
