How will these teams look without two All-Americans in the Birmingham Bowl 2021?

Marcus Jones, a defensive back for the Cougars, was just recently named an All-American by the Associated Press.

Jones transferred from Troy back in time to play for the Cougars in the 2020 season in which he had 24 tackles, 4 pass deflections, and an interception.

This season, his second with the Cougars, was exceptional. The senior out of Enterprise, Ala. was top 10 in the country this season in interceptions (5) and pass deflections (13). He also added a career-high 36 solo tackles and a forced fumble.

He has decided to opt out of the game and prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft. As has Auburn All-American Roger McCreary.

McCreary was sensational this season, recording 14 pass deflections, two interceptions, and a touchdown.

McCreary and Jones’ absence will change the complexion of these defenses and likely indicate more opportunities to throw the ball on offense.
